XII edition of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Symposium in Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at the State University of Ponta Grossa (UEPG) held the XII edition of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Symposium in Chemistry (Simpoquim), addressing the theme "Science for Sustainable Development: Contribution of the SDGs to a better future" between September 27th and 29th, 2023. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Brazil are supported by the United Nations (UN - https://brasil.un.org/pt-br/sdgs). There are 17 ambitious objectives in various areas of society, such as poverty eradication, health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, action against global climate change, etc. It was an opportunity for dissemination and reflection among Undergraduates and Postgraduates, assisting in academic training to shape a sustainable future through research and extension actions. The event provided seven short courses, three conferences, six coordinated sessions, a panel section, a cultural presentation, a scientific dissemination section, a panel with industry, and a science fair. This was the UEPG Chemistry Department's way of contributing to Brazil's 2030 Agenda on actions for a sustainable and inclusive future.

Encouraged by the great feedback and interest from participants, we invited scientists to contribute to our special volume. Manuscripts must connect their scientific content with one or more SDGs in order to follow the proposal of the special volume.

Submissions of manuscripts for the XII Simpoquim Special Volume will take place between November 1, 2023, and April 1, 2024. It is essential that authors follow the Orbital: The Electronic Journal of Chemistry submission rules so that the editorial review is successful and continues to the next steps.
