Abstract
From a perspective of preserving the knowledge and indigenous culture of Aldeia Amambai, the present study envisages measuring, based on an interview carried out with the members of this community, to know a little about the plants used to combat diseases, as well as their use cases, parts used, indications and also regarding the use of medicinal plants as a first strategy by the interviewees. It was also sought to understand whether there is a belief among them regarding negative effects, side effects, etc. It was also questioned about the difficulty of finding these natural medicines. To this end, the composition of the indigenous population in the municipality of Amambai-MS was addressed, a literature review was carried out on the importance of preserving indigenous culture, and after the interview, the collected data were analyzed using the IRAMUTEQ Software. From this analysis, it was evidenced, based on the narratives of the interviewees, that medicinal plants or home remedies are part of the strategy to combat diseases in the community, in some cases being the only strategy used, however it is noted in most cases. cases, a mix between conventional medicine and treatment with local plants.
