Abstract

This text emerges from an excerpt from the Extension Project entitled “Acting and Teaching Training: a meeting with the Little Prince, by Antoine Saint-Exupéry”, from the Aquidauana Campus, of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul. It aims to use the children's classic to demonstrate how the ancient art of storytelling can be an important pedagogical tool; therefore, it presents literature in a playful and more attractive way for an audience that, although knowing how to read, is not in the habit of reading (children and teenagers). Based on studies developed by researchers in the field of education, the project highlights a methodology for developing the work in its entirety, for children in Elementary School I; exploring and discussing its varied contexts and symbolism, as well as design, textual and visual interpretation. In this way, in these studies, the project, actions and results are presented as a form of possibility for expanding Literary Culture. It is emphasized that developing children's pleasure in reading highlights the correlation between art, culture and other forms of knowledge as an integral part of the learning process.
