Abstract

This article aims to construct a profile of the student body of EJAEF in the municipality of Areia Branca-SE to understand the main difficulties faced by young students in the region, rethink teaching methodologies to effectively address the learning deficits identified among the students, and gather data for the training of fundamental-level teachers in the Youth and Adult Education Program (EJAEF) of the municipality. The lack of specific data on young and adult students in this Sergipe municipality drove the choice of this research topic. For this purpose, the methodology combines qualitative and quantitative approaches. The applied technique included classroom observation over a brief period of six weeks and data collection through a multiple-choice questionnaire, which considered not only age group and socioeconomic status but also the challenges these students face in the learning process. Based on the results obtained, the absence of the human factor becomes evident in this and other studies conducted using this method.
