Abstract

This article is based on studies and reflections arising from the UFMS/CPAQ Extension Project: Children and childhood in Cinema – possibilities of un/seeing concepts and presents cinema as a means to study childhood and children who, illustrates the ability of this art to reproduce images of reality, acting as a powerful tool in cultural formation. Cinema brings human beings closer to the complexity of the world, allowing abstract ideas to be materialized into tangible images. Thus, this study seeks to outline an overview of the different theoretical views on childhood and children over time, placing them in dialogue with cinematic representations that propose a careful analysis of cinema narratives and their relationships with perceptions of childhood. and children. Furthermore, it aims to promote critical reflection on how these concepts are socially constructed and how they can be challenged or reinforced through cinematic language. In short, this study explores new ways of understanding childhood and children and, in doing so, it is also hoped to stimulate new discussions and reflections on the cultural impacts on the education and training of children.
