LIBERDADE DE ENSINAR: CONDIÇÃO INDISPENSÁVEL À CONSTRUÇÃO DE UMA NOVA HEGEMONIA
Abstract
This essay draws on Gramscian reflections as a basis to defend the indispensability of the Basic Education teachers' freedom to teach in the context of the project of building a new hegemony - based on the interests of the people. To do so, it follows the argumentative path of showing: first, the relevance of the teaching profession in shaping modern societies; and from there, Gramsci's vision regarding both the strategic importance of the educational institution for the self-determination of subaltern classes and the "type" of intellectual it must form so that a popular collective will can be constituted.
