Abstract

This work aimed to analyze how reading and storytelling practices are conceived in the Reggio Emília approach, since this is based on child protagonism, art, creativity and the integral development of small children from times, spaces and materials intentionally designed for this to happen. From a previous bibliographical research, we realized the scarcity of materials that dealt specifically with this artistic and pedagogical aspect. In view of this, we dialogue with Vecchi (2017), Edward, Gandini and Forman (1999) and Rinaldi (2022) as authors who supported the contribution on the role of art as fundamental in the development process of children's languages, as well as based on Abramovich (1989) and Coelho (2000) who contributed with the perspective of storytelling itself, as art and part of the pedagogical work. The child is a powerful subject with rights and every childhood is endowed with multiple languages, with reading and storytelling being an important and rich resource of experiences and ways of expanding and consolidating children's narratives, providing access and improvement of these many languages.
