Abstract

This article examines the issue of public policies in early childhood and their relevance from the Statute of Early Childhood published in Brazil in 2016. It aims, from the historical analysis of the evolution of children’s and young people’s rights to the edition of the aforementioned legal framework of early childhood, to demonstrate the significant importance that this phase of human life holds in relation to the entire life of the individual, in its interrelationships and family and social connections. It is also important to analyze how the Law No. 13.257/16 addresses public policy issues related to this subject. In order to reach the objectives listed, the theoretical research is developed through descriptive and explanatory methodologies. The data will be collected through bibliographic review, being evaluated qualitatively. At the end, it will be concluded that the establishment and successful execution of public policies by the State, especially in the areas of health and education, focused on early childhood, can decisively influence the healthy and harmonious development of children and adolescents.
