Abstract

The inclusion of people
with disabilities through the use of technologies is a relevant topic in
contemporary society. In human history, we have never had so many means of
information and communication as we do today. Therefore, it is important to
transform these possibilities into strategies for an inclusive educational
context. From this perspective, the objective of this study is to understand
how technologies can enhance the teaching-learning process of students with
visual impairments in Elementary and High School education. Methodologically, a
qualitative research approach was adopted through a bibliographic survey
conducted in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD),
with data analysis based on the theoretical framework of the study itself. The
results highlight the importance of using technologies in education from an
inclusive perspective. Such resources may include, for example, software
designed to assist people with disabilities in their daily activities, such as
screen readers, alternative and augmentative communication tools, and voice
recognition systems, among others. It is concluded that the use of technologies
aimed at inclusive education enables different ways of enhancing students’
performance, making these resources important allies in the educational
process.
