O papel do observador-personagem no humor gráfico de Quino

Ao analisar uma seleção de seus desenhos, mostramos que Quino aplica intuitivamente o modelo biocognitivo de uma abordagem centrada no observador ao estudo da linguagem (Maturana 1970, Kravchenko 2006). Quino cria uma situação incongruente que geralmente representa uma violação das normas sociais (Veatch 1988). Nesse cenário, ele insere um observador-personagem que reage de maneira não humorística. Por sua vez, o leitor da história em quadrinhos — o observador externo — experimenta humor diante da incongruência, além do humor provocado pela percepção da reação emocional do observador-personagem (Howe 2002). Esse importante personagem serve como uma lupa para o efeito humorístico.
