EL MORFEMA {MO-}~{MBO-} EN FORMACIÓN DE PALABRAS NEOLÓGICAS EN EL GUARANÍ-CHIRIGUANO:

Abstract

Abstract: This study is part of an ongoing doctoral project on the word formation process in neologisms of three varieties of Chiriguano Guarani belonging to Group I of the Tupi-Guarani language family (Dietrich, 2010), as presented in the glossary “Neologismos Lingüísticos de terminos técnicos en idiomas Bêsɨro, Mojeño, Guarani, Gwarayu”. The main objective of this article is the functional interpretation of these morphemes as lexical composition and an attempt to describe the use of the prefix {mõ-}{mbo-} in the formation of new words in Chiriguano. The theoretical foundation is based on studies and theories by Dietrich (1986; 2010; 2011; 2021), Gustafson (2014), and Cerno (2011), who describe the use of such prefixes in other Guarani dialects. The functionality of the prefixes is described, highlighting their most prominent uses, especially in the field of word formation processes. From a methodological point of view, it is based on the theory outlined by Coseriu (1977) within the framework of his theory of "Lexematic Structures". Coseriu's theory of "Lexical Structures" was used as a useful tool for linguistic analysis, providing a solid theoretical basis for analyzing the lexical structure of language. The partial results indicate that this is a prefix that has very specific uses, whose main function is to express causal forms by changing the verbal valency. The functionality of the prefixes is described, highlighting their most prominent uses, especially in the field of word formation processes.
