Abstract

Conceição Lima undertakes a journey, a metaphysical passage – which is only possible through literary language –, as part of a journey around the construction of a new “national narrative” or “narrative of meanings” (I use the expressions consecrated by Stuart Hall (2003), Benedict Anderson (2005), Hommi Bhabha (1998) – rereading Anderson –, adopted by Edward Said (2005), who seem unanimous in adopting the expression “narrative”, although with different perspectives, but which complement each other) and from a clearly subjective and intimate perspective, also reflected or projected onto the lyrical subject, since, as Bachelard (1989, p. 8) postulates, “The individual is not the sum of his general impressions, he is the sum of his singular impressions ” and continues: “If I want to study the life of images of water for example, I must, therefore, give back to the river and the sources of my land their main role.” (Emphasis added). Or, as Ronaldo Lima Lins (2017, p. 174) rightly states about the advent of intimacy, “History, so to speak, became individualized, more archeology than interpretation or compass for our movements. In the item of intimacy, it appears more as a question mark (among the many that affect the solitary) than as a revelation (...)”. This is the path I intend to follow in the essay presented here.
