Ethics and integrity in scientific publishing

The journal adopts rigorous principles of ethics and integrity in scientific publishing, in accordance with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), available at https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Guidelines, and with the national regulations of the Policy on Integrity in Scientific Activity of the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq), pursuant to Ordinance No. 2,664, of 6 March 2026.

The journal adopts policies for plagiarism prevention, management of conflicts of interest, responsible authorship and correction or retraction procedures, when necessary. All parties involved in the publication process must promote ethical standards and act with responsibility, transparency and integrity.

Authors must ensure the originality of submitted works and declare any conflicts of interest. Research involving human participants must be submitted for approval by a Research Ethics Committee, when applicable.

Editors are responsible for fair and impartial decisions, as well as for maintaining confidentiality throughout the review process.

Reviewers must provide well-founded review reports, comply with established deadlines, maintain the confidentiality of the review process and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

Submitted articles must comply with the following ethical requirements: originality, meaning that the manuscript must not be under review by another journal; prevention of plagiarism and self-plagiarism, with the article being submitted to similarity-checking tools; authorship and contributions, ensuring that all authors have contributed significantly to the preparation of the article; research ethics, with approval by a Research Ethics Committee in applicable cases; declaration of conflicts of interest, whether financial, institutional or personal; respect for copyright, with agreement to the licence adopted by the journal; and adoption of correction or retraction procedures if a relevant error is identified after publication.

The journal maintains a rigorous policy for the prevention and detection of plagiarism, carrying out independent textual similarity checks in order to ensure the originality and scientific integrity of manuscripts. Cases of plagiarism, self-plagiarism or other forms of scientific misconduct will be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines.
