HISTORICAL TRANSIT IN THE LITERARY CONSTRUCTION OF ANA MIRANDA

THE GREGÓRIO DE MATOS CASE

Abstract

This research analyzes the work of rewriting the history of Brazilian literature in two literary works by Ana Miranda that deal with the life of the 17th century poet Gregório de Matos, based on his fictionalized representation as a character. The literary corpus is composed of the novel Boca do Inferno (1989) and the romanticized biography Musa Praguejadora (2014), highlighting, within these works, the issue of fictionality in novels from a broad cut in the limits between literature and history, which keep peculiar ways of approaching the real. Thus, it is proposed with this research to investigate the intersections between literature and history and the possibility of a metafictional construction from a historiographical construction. For the discussion proposed here, therefore, works by authors were used that dialogue with the intertwining between the two fields of knowledge, such as Alfredo Bosi (2013, 1992), Beatriz Sarlo (2007), Peter Burke (1997; 1992), Linda Hutcheon (1991) and Lukasz Grützmacher (2006), among others. The proposed theories will dialogue directly with the author's novel construction in order to propose an analysis of these works of recent literature in our country, seeking to understand the historical dimension of the literary text and its representation as part of the national identity, proposing a dialogue between the centuries XVII and XXI. It is intended, as a result of the work, to discuss, based on the categories of analysis, the undertaking to reconstruct the past in the tensions and hybridizations between the fields of literature and history that the author makes to bring back the persona of the poet Gregório de Matos Guerra.
