Abstract

This article presents a way of inquiry on the specificities of the relations between art and design in a set of artifacts of unique or limited-edition presented in the arts spaces, using the Peircean research method. In this proposition, the guiding principle presented is Charles Peirce's pragmatic research theory (an investigation logic, carried out from the scientific method, which aims to investigate doubt and discover the truth) in the dynamic and interdependent relations with Phenomenology (an area philosophy whose objective is to elaborate an inventory of the phenomenon's appearances), with Semiotics (a philosophical doctrine that consists of investigating, through observation, discrimination and generalization, the general aspects of each and every sign) and with Pragmatism (a philosophical doctrine that holds that the full meaning of a concept must include the practical effects or consequences observed in the habits of conduct that are involved in it). This expanded look at Peirce's philosophy, allowed to analyze the focal objects considering the dynamics of this phenomenon in action, in its different relations with the context in which they are inserted.
