Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal, nor has it been published in event proceedings or any other media; otherwise, justification must be provided in “Comments to the editor.”
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word or OpenOffice format.
  • URLs for references have been provided where possible, in the form of clickable hyperlinks.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics instead of underlining (except in URL addresses); figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document in the form of attachments.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Guidelines for Authors, on the About the Journal page.
  • In the case of submissions to a section with peer review (e.g., articles), the instructions available in “Double-blind peer review (blind review)” were followed.

Author Guidelines

Perspectivas em Diálogo: Revista de Educação e Sociedade does not charge any submission or publication fees for articles, which may be submitted at any time of the year (continuous flow) or within specific deadlines for Thematic Dossiers.

1. Contributions sent to the journal in the form of scientific articles and reviews must be unpublished. Unpublished work is understood here to mean work that has not been published, as submitted, in any other contexts, vehicles, and/or media. The journal does not accept works already published in event proceedings, books, collections, etc. The republication of works in PDRES would constitute self-plagiarism, in addition to infringing on the copyrights of events, publishers, institutions, etc. In works submitted for consideration by the journal, authors may, however, make use of parts of their previous bibliographic productions, such as those resulting from texts published at events, for example, provided that this is mentioned and, furthermore, the use of these excerpts does not exceed 10 to 20% of the new text.

2. Articles from theses and dissertations are accepted for evaluation, provided they are reworked as such and their origin is indicated in a footnote and/or in the body of the text, and the content of the article has not been published by other means.

3. Articles must be at least 10 and at most 20 pages long, typed in doc. or docx. format, single-spaced, and formatted according to the journal's template. Submissions that do not use the template, which can be accessed here, will not be accepted.

4. Titles should be written in uppercase and bold, consisting of up to 20 words, distinct from keywords, in the case of articles.

5. Article abstracts should contain up to 250 words, indicating the topic addressed, the objectives of the study, the data collection and analysis methods used, the results, and the general conclusions obtained.

6. Articles should present, below the abstract, three to five keywords, separated by semicolons.

7. The corresponding versions of the titles, abstracts, and keywords in English and Spanish must be added to the articles. Articles in a foreign language must have the title, abstract, and keywords in Portuguese.

8. It is suggested that articles have the following structure: 1. Introduction, 2. Theoretical Framework, 3. Methodology (or other equivalent expression), 4. Results and Discussion, 5. Final Considerations, followed by References. The items mentioned should be written in upper and lower case and in bold, and may include sub-items.

9. It is recommended that theoretical essays have the following structure: Introduction, Development, and Final Considerations, in bold, and these sections may be designated by other equivalent expressions, at the discretion of the authors, as well as presenting other subdivisions.

10. For reviews, which should be no longer than 5 pages, only books and theses published no more than one year prior to the date of submission to the journal will be accepted.

11. Figures, charts, graphs, tables, and images should be presented in the body of the text, properly identified and with respective captions, when applicable.

12. Direct quotations of up to three lines should be enclosed in double quotation marks in the text (single quotation marks are used to indicate quotations within quotations). In cases where direct quotations exceed three lines, they should be highlighted with a 4 cm indent, font size 11, without quotation marks.

13. Authors should not identify themselves in any way in the text, to avoid identification during the blind review process.

14. For scientific articles, a maximum of four authors is allowed. For reviews, the maximum number of authors is two. In all types of work submitted, at least one of the authors must have a master's degree and, preferably, a doctorate.

15. Citations and references must follow the formatting standards of the most recent Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), with: a) single spacing and two spaces between references; b) authors' names may not be abbreviated and must be written in full; references listed at the end of the text, in the References section, must be standardized in bold.

16. The authors declare that the text is unpublished and is not being simultaneously submitted to other journals, nor has it been published, in its current form, elsewhere, such as in event proceedings.

17. To avoid problems with plagiarism and self-plagiarism, the finished text, formatted in the template, must be run through the CopySpider software (or another equivalent) to then download the PDF report, which must be submitted, together with the article, through the journal's system. A free version of the software can be found here.

18. In order to ensure the ethical, transparent, and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) tools, the mandatory AI Use Declaration, available here, must be completed and signed at the time of manuscript submission.

19. After an initial evaluation of the manuscript received by the journal's system, only submissions that contain the three required files will be forwarded for evaluation: I) a properly formatted template without author identification; II) a CopySpider report or equivalent; and III) a declaration of AI use.

20. Unpublished contributions will be sent to two reviewers in the field for analysis, using a blind review process. They may approve the work immediately, approve it with the need for revisions, or reject it in its entirety. In the case of approval with the need for revisions, final acceptance and publication of the text are conditional upon resubmission of the text to the editors-in-chief with the requested changes highlighted. When the reviews are divergent, one favorable and one unfavorable, the same work will be sent to another reviewer in the field, whose assessment will serve as a tiebreaker.

21. Syntactic, spelling, and bibliographic corrections, as well as proofreading and translation of the abstract into English and Spanish, are the sole responsibility of the authors, as, if approved, the text will be published as submitted.

22. Authors are aware that they transfer the copyright of the text to the journal if it is accepted for publication.

23. Once their work has been accepted by the journal, authors must wait at least four consecutive issues of the journal before submitting new contributions. However, this rule does not apply to guest authors, where applicable.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Submitted works undergo the following evaluation phases:

Initially, the editorial team analyzes the suitability of the work to the editorial line and scope of the journal, the publication rules, including the template, the CopySpider anti-plagiarism software report, and the mandatory declaration of AI use, as well as the contribution and quality of the article to the journal and its publication potential. Next, as this is a double-blind method, the editorial team will forward the text to two reviewers with areas of expertise and academic training related to the topic of the work for independent evaluation. If there is disagreement between the ad hoc consultants, the work will be forwarded to a third reviewer. Finally, the authors will receive notification of the reviews, and the identity of the reviewers will be kept confidential. The results of the review may be: a) Accept; b) Mandatory corrections; c) Resubmit for review; d) Send to another journal; e) Reject; f) See comments.

Accepted works will proceed to the editing stage, where final adjustments will be made for publication.
