Author Guidelines

Authors must verify the submission's compliance with all items listed below. Submissions that do not comply with the guidelines will be returned to the authors for correction.

Submissions must be original and unpublished. We recommend that the submission is not under review for publication in another journal — otherwise, it must be justified in the “Comments to the editor.”

The Edutec Journal does not charge any fees for manuscript submission, processing, or publication, nor does it charge any other type of fee.

✅ Editorial Policies

Learn about our policies for scope, review, publication frequency, deadlines, ethics, privacy, and preservation on the About the Journal page.

✅ Authorship Requirements

The paper must have a maximum of 4 authors. At least one of the authors must have a doctorate. The main author must not have published in Revista Edutec in the current year. In the submission process, authors are required to verify the submission's compliance in accordance with the journal's requirements. Submissions that do not comply with the rules will be returned to the authors.

✅ Text Limits

The text must contain 35,000 to 50,000 characters for scientific articles, considering spaces and references, except the abstract.

For reviews, the text must contain 25,000 to 40,000 characters, considering spaces and references, except the abstract.

✅ Title

The full title of the paper must have a maximum of 16 words and express its content with confidence.

✅ Abstract and Keywords

The abstract must contain between 200 and 300 words and explain, in an informative character and without enumeration of topics, the following items: general theme and research problem; goals; the methodology used; main results and conclusions. The use of a single paragraph, active voice, and in the third person singular, concise, and affirmative sentences is recommended. The following should be avoided: neologisms, bibliographic citations, symbols, and contractions that are not in current use, as well as formulas, equations, diagrams that are not necessary.

The keywords must be 3 to 5, separated by a period.

✅ Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments (optional) must be cited in a footnote and without direct or indirect references to authorship.

✅ Illustrations

Figures (photos, drawings, and maps), tables, charts, and graphs must be numbered in Arabic numerals according to the sequence in which they appear, always mentioned in the text's body, and headed by their respective title.

For figures, a description of the image must be included, for accessibility purposes, in a specific field immediately below or in the text's body.

After each item, it is necessary to register its source. When the material is original of the research, it should be indicated with the wording "Source: research data." or "Source: own elaboration.". When the material is from a third party, it must be indicated as an ABNT citation: “Author (Year, Page)”, or “Adapted from Author (Year, Page)” if there is an format adaptation made by the authors.

Maps must contain scales and graphic legends.

The images must come in JPG format with a resolution from 300 dpi and be presented in dimensions that allow their enlargement or reduction without impairing legibility. All images must also be sent in their original files, in .zip format, as a supplementary document. The name of each file must correspond to the title (for example, Figure 1).

The journal does not accept tables, charts or graphs in image format. Tables, charts and graphs must be inserted in the text’s body in an editable format, for accessibility purposes. Even if they contain images, textual and/or numerical parts must be editable. The default path for inserting these resources in the Text Editor is “Insert > Table/Graph”.

✅ Footnotes

Explanatory footnotes should be used sparingly, only when strictly necessary to understand the text. Notes must be numbered in Arabic numerals according to the sequence in which they appear in the text.

✅ Citations

Direct and indirect quotations must comply with the ABNT NBR 10520 (2023) standard.

  1. Short quotations of up to three lines must be incorporated into the paragraph, transcribed in quotation marks.
  2. Direct quotations of more than three lines must be in an isolated paragraph, with 4 cm indentation on the left margin, size 10, and without quotation marks.
  3. In situations (1) and (2) the indication of authorship may occur in the body of the text with only the initial capital letter, before the literal citation (with only the year of publication and page number in parentheses) or after the literal citation (in parentheses: the surname with only the initial capitalized, year of publication and page number).
  4. If there is no direct quotation, but only a citation to the author, the author's surname must be indicated in parentheses, with only the initial capitalized, along with the year of publication of that production.

✅ Bibliography

Bibliography must comply with ABNT NBR 6023 (2018) technical standard.

Only the works cited throughout the text must appear in the bibliography, which must appear, under the title of References, at the end of the article, and on a separate page.

✅ Translations

The author is aware that, if his article is approved, he must subsequently send an abstract, title, and keywords translated into two other languages: in the case of originals in Portuguese: English, and Spanish; or Portuguese and Spanish for originals submitted in English; or Portuguese and English for originals in Spanish.

✅ Research Ethics

The author and co-authors are aware of their responsibility and of complying with the ethical criteria adopted in conducting the research, and they provide detailed information in the text or in supplementary documents, when applicable.

All submitted works that contain images, photographs, or figures depicting human beings must be accompanied by an Image Use Authorization Form, signed by the participant appearing in the image or, in the case of children, by their legal guardians, including their data and signatures.

✅ Use of Artificial Intelligence

The Edutec Journal embraces the guidelines of the Heredia Declaration for the conscious and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in scientific research, editing, and publishing. In this regard, we provide the following guidelines.

Authors may use AI as a work tool, always maintaining their responsibility for the content and transparency about its use.

  • Authorship of scientific works is exclusively attributed to human beings. Language models or generative AI cannot be considered authors.
  • It is essential to explicitly declare the use of AI at any stage of the research or text preparation. This declaration must include the AI model and its version, the date of use, how it was used, and which outputs generated by the tool were incorporated into the work. The AI model must be cited and referenced.
  • Authors must filter and validate the accuracy of the information provided by AI, not assuming its responses are absolute. It is the author's responsibility to avoid plagiarism, misinformation, and the propagation of biases when interacting with AI models.
  • The use of personal, confidential, or sensitive data in queries to AI models is prohibited without explicit authorization from the data owners.
  • If third-party funding is received for the use of AI in the research or publication process, this must also be mentioned.

Learn more about the policy on the use of AI on the Ethics in Research and Publishing page.

✅ Identification and CV

The author and any co-authors must be registered in ORCID and have a Lattes CV, or other online CV (if not Brazilian). The platforms are used to formally verify authorship.

✅ Author Information

To ensure a double-blind review, the manuscript file must not contain any information identifying the authors or their institutional affiliations. Author information will be recorded only as metadata, entered through the online submission form.

In the system metadata, the institutional affiliation must be provided in the following format: Full name of the institution (without abbreviations), City, State acronym, Country. Only in cases where the author has no institutional affiliation is it permitted to declare oneself as an “Independent researcher.”

Each author's contributions to the research must be detailed in a dedicated section of the manuscript, as per the file template provided for submission. This information must not be concealed for the review process.

✅ Format

The text must be submitted in A4 format (top margin 2.5cm, bottom 2.5cm, left 2,5cm, right 2cm, header 1.25cm, and footer 1.25cm).

The writing must preferably be done in Roboto (or Arial, as an alternative), size 12, with justified paragraphs, spacing 1.5 (one and a half) between lines and paragraphs with indentation of 1.25 cm in the first line.

Highlights must be made in bold. Electronic addresses and foreign words can be written in italics.

All pages of the original must be numbered sequentially.

✅ Template File

Download the submission template file. All manuscripts must follow the formatting established in the file.
