This study aimed to examine the relationship between gender issues and the phenomenon of cancel culture. To this end, an integrative literature review was conducted to synthesize the available knowledge on the topic. The search for articles was carried out in the PubMed, Google Scholar, and CAPES Journal Portal databases. The selection and organization of studies followed the guidelines of the PRISMA flowchart. Results. Initially, 172 articles were identified. After removing duplicates, 168 studies were kept for screening. Of this total, 30 were evaluated for eligibility, resulting in the selection of 8 articles to form the qualitative synthesis. The qualitative analysis revealed that debates on gender and sexuality are a significant factor in the emergence and intensification of cancellation. This complex scenario brings important implications for freedom of expression and for the production of knowledge in the academic environment.
